Can I Afford Complementary Medicine
It is true of course, that in Australia if you choose Complementary Medicine, you will have to pay for it and that you are not subsidised as you are with Medicare and Orthodox Medicine. If you are a member of a health fund, you of course, receive some reimbursement.
Is this a waste of money if you are already covered by Medicare?
|
Well, yes and no. If you hold the opinion that you’ll be ok and if you do get sick, you can fall back on the government subsidised medical system which won’t cost you much anyway, yes, you are probably correct. Complementary Medicine would be a waste of time for you. Why? It’s probably because you see your symptoms as the disease and that treating symptoms treats the disease.
If your attitude is such that you are not really willing to invest anything in maintaining your health, through seeking the assistance of fully trained and experienced natural health care professionals, then perhaps you lack an understanding of the true value of achieving and maintaining good health. However, the old saying proves itself over and over again – an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
If you have continued to read up to this point, you obviously do not hold the mind-sets mentioned above. We are all to some degree, in denial about various things. You do not need a degree in psychology to understand this fact. However, if your denial includes the attitude that cost is the primary consideration in seeking out natural health care, you are destined to attract second best. On the other hand, of course, it must be affordable, and you need to feel that you will be getting real value for your money.
In direct response to this question of affordability: Complementary Medicine, properly selected, may well prove to be the best financial investment that you will ever make!
To use a tired old cliché, at the end of the day, your financial matters and how you spend your money is of course, entirely up to you; but we all like a bargain. Natural health care through the guidance of properly trained and experienced professionals does represent a real bargain as good health is your most valuable asset.

How Do You Know Who To Choose?
 |
|
Well, horses for courses, of course. Each practitioner tends to attract the clientele they are able to help. No practitioner, regardless of reputation, training, experience or type of therapy, is the best choice for everyone. This is so for a number of reasons that are evident if you give it some thought.
Beyond this, however, lies the consideration of who you actually do select.
There are some things to consider that are important for your selection.
Obviously the practitioner and his/her staff need to have proper training in the areas in which they practice. You need to be satisfied they have this, ie the expertise they claim.
The type of natural therapies practised must play a part in your selection. Hence, it is important for you to have at least some superficial understanding of the range of modalities available in the field of Complementary Medicine.
A very valid question for you to raise is the length of experience the practitioner in the profession has had. If someone for example, has twenty or more years experience in the modalities they practice, this must account for much. The very fact that the therapist has practised successfully over that time, is evidence that they “must be doing something right”. In short, all things being equal, there is really no substitute for experience. Whereas it is fundamentally important to be well trained in theory, as for many occupations, only experience ultimately moulds the practitioner into a truly competent exponent.

Why Would Your Choice Be Sunshine Holistic Living?
There are several really good reasons for you to choose us at Sunshine Holistic Living in helping you to overcome your health challenges and live a more vital and fulfilled existence.
Let’s begin with the staff:
|
Greg Gralton, the senior clinician, holds an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy, Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition, Diploma in Homoeopathic Medicine, Diploma in Therapeutic Massage, Diploma in Herbology and a Diploma in Teaching (Phys.Ed).
Greg comes from a diverse professional background including time spent in the military and as a secondary school teacher. He has 33 years experience in health related fields with 24 of these in natural medicine. Over these years, Greg has assisted many thousands of clients with their health problems.
Every practitioner over time develops a unique style. In Greg’s case, it is his belief in, and passion for, the highly versatile and effective modality known as Kinesiology, that has largely underpinned his clinical approach. Greg holds a strong belief in the value of objective screening – Live Blood Analysis, Bio-impedence Analysis, urine and saliva pH Analysis, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, Salivary Hormone Testing, Medical blood tests and so on. However, it is his belief, based on experience, that if the “inner wisdom” of his clients is accessed with properly structured kinesiological enquiry, sole reliance by the practitioner on such objective screening is unnecessary, restrictive and at times prohibitively expensive for clients. Kinesiology, Greg believes, allows the practitioner to think and focus outside the conventional square where sometimes unrecognised truths are to be found that may often mean the difference between success or otherwise.
As a naturopath with a keen interest in modern evidence-based nutritional and herbal medicine research, Greg keeps abreast of effective emerging health care strategies. However, he feels that it is essential not to neglect the basics of Naturopathy: detoxification. Detoxification of the body is commonly an essential first step in addressing many health challenges; but Greg believes it is the toxicity of the mind – our core mental /emotional stress – that is far too frequently overlooked. Hence, through Kinesiology, Greg places very strong emphasis on successfully addressing such in-dwelling causative imbalances.
Finally, Greg sees himself as an educator in inculcating in his clients a far better understanding of themselves in the context of their achieving and maintaining health and happiness as an ongoing way of life.
